Denpasar - Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam BKSDA Provinsi Bali melepas 64 ekor penyu di Pantai Sindu, Sanur, Denpasar, Bali. Kegiatan ini dihadiri oleh Wakil Menteri Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan LHK Alue Dohong. Jenis penyu yang dilepas liar oleh BKSDA Bali di antaranya 20 ekor penyu lekang, tiga ekor penyu sisik, dan 41 ekor penyu hijau. Dohong mengungkapkan jika Indonesia merupakan salah satu habitat bagi enam dari tujuh jenis penyu yang ada di dunia. Maka dari itu, perlunya kesadaran untuk saling menjaga ekosistem penyu."Jadi ini sangat penting bagi Indonesia, dan penyu adalah ambassador spesies kita, bahwa ini milik kita, bangsa dan negara Indonesia, yang harus kita jaga ekosistem dan kelestariannya. Supaya terus bisa berlanjut kehidupan penyu itu sendiri," kata Dohong, Sabtu 10/6/2023. Apalagi, dari 64 penyu tersebut, ada sebagian penyu yang diamankan menjadi barang bukti kasus penangkapan perdagangan penyu hijau di Bali beberapa waktu lalu. "Saya harus berterima kasih kepada jajaran Polda Bali, karena telah membantu menangkap pelaku penyelundupan penyu-penyu secara ilegal," ujar sambutannya, Dohong mengatakan penyu merupakan satwa yang harus dilindungi berdasarkan Peraturan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Nomor 106 Tahun Dohong mengungkapkan jika salah satu kerusakan habitat penyu adalah dari pembuangan sampah dan limbah yang sembarangan. Maka dari itu, Dohong mengimbau masyarakat agar membuang sampah di tempat yang disediakan."Kedua, yang merusak habitat penyu ini adalah sampah dan limbah. Karena itu saya minta kesadaran untuk membuang sampah ke tempat yang sudah disediakan. Bahkan di Bali, kami bangun 3 TPST besar untuk pengolahan sampah," tutur pelepasan penyu ini merupakan kegiatan yang pertama kali dilakukan di Bali. Dohong berharap agar terus berkolaborasi dengan masyarakat dan pihak terkait untuk saling menjaga ekosistem penyu yang menjadi satwa dilindungi.
